The 2011 Hurun China Philanthropy List (2011胡润慈善榜) was released this week in Chinese. Although he has been on the list in the past, the top philanthropist, Cao Dewang (曹德旺), was new to the list’s top 10 this year. He is chairman of the Fuyao Group, which manufactures glass and is publicly traded through the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Cao’s recent donations include 200 million yuan (US$30.7 million) to Xiamen University to support business studies and 3.6 billion yuan (US$551 million) to his Heren Charity Foundation.
