Researching prospects around the world requires a unique set of skills.
- Well-qualified international prospect researchers need to understand and know where to find data sources, which may vary from country to country — and even city to city.
- They need to know how to conduct research in any language. Ideally, they would be able to read the languages used in countries where their prospects live, but prospect research projects will always come up in unexpected places. No matter how many languages a researcher can read, international prospect researchers must have a proven set of strategies and techniques for navigating around language barriers.
- International prospect researchers need to have a solid understanding of the ways in which asset allocations differ from country to country. These differences can result in misleading ratings if the researcher does not understand them.
- Finally, international prospect researchers need to understand how signs of philanthropy may differ from country to country.
Does your organization have researchers who are trained in these skills? If not, IFI can help.
